Thomas Aloyisus Finnerty Jr., 63 YOUNGSTOWN - Prayers will be at 9:15 a.m. on Monday at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by the Rev. Edward Noga at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, Youngstown, for Thomas Aloyisus Finnerty Jr., 63, who passed away Wednesday morning at Hospice House. Thomas was born February 29, 1952, in Youngstown, son of Thomas Aloyisus Finnerty Sr. and Virginia Murphy Finnerty and has been a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School with the class of 1970, graduated from YSU and went on to get his master's from Akron University. He was a long time parishioner of St. Nicholas parish in Struthers. He was the Associate Director of the Center for Urban Regional Studies at YSU, just retiring on October 1, 2015. He was the lead writer for the Youngstown 2010 City Wide Plan; he was instrumental in the formation of Wick Neighbors & the Smokey Hollow Redevelopment Plan. Thomas received an award for extraordinary public service and dedication to the Mahoning Valley. He will be sadly missed by his wife Charlotte Yannerella Finnerty whom he married on October 10, 1980, just celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his two daughters, Megan Finnerty (Adam) Pannone of Arlington, VA, Jennifer Calerina Finnerty of Lansing, MI; his parents-in -law James and Wanda Yannerella of Warren; his five brothers, Timothy (Maureen) Finnerty, of Stow, John (Mary Jo) Finnerty of Lake Mary, Fla., Terence (Sandra) Finnerty of Port Orchard, Wash., Kevin (Mary Jo) Finnerty of Poland, Brian (Cathy) Finnerty of Poland; his two sisters, Colleen (Thomas) Sutcliffe and Kate (David) Bobby both of Poland; his brother-in-law Charles (Wilma) Yannerella of Columbus; two sisters-in-law, Kathy (Robert) Horvath of Warren , Carol (Dan) Wilkerson of Warren and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Kenneth Yannerella.
