BOARDMAN- Thomas W. Slaven, 62 Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Evangel Baptist Church for Thomas W. Slaven who went home to meet his Savior Tuesday morning. Thomas was born March 23, 1948 in Youngstown, a son of Roy and Jeanette Butterfield Slaven and has and has been a resident of this area all of his life. After attending Struthers High School, he served in Vietnam years with the United States Army. After the service Tom worked as a material handler for Commercial Intertech. He was very active with his church , a trustee and worked a lot with its youth organizations. Tom enjoyed fishing and loved to spend time with his grandchildren. Tom was a very loving and caring person to all he knew. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife LaVonne Linker whom he married October 27, 1967; two daughters, Janette (Frank) Lyda of LeHigh, FL. and Shannon Slaven of Boardman; a son Thomas R. (Susan) Slaven of New Middletown; five grandchildren, Frankie Lyda, Autumn Lyda, Dalton Lyda, Holly Schell and Autumn Slaven. He will also be missed by Joyce (Jim ) Pannunzio of Wadsworth, Cherrie (Bill) Dworak of Poland, Bonnie (Joe) Vlosich of Poland, Roger (Karen) Linker of Boardman and several nieces and nephews. Thomas was preceded in death his father, his mother Jeanette, a brother Robert Slaven and a son-in-law Robert Schell. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday prior to the service at the Evangel Baptist Church, 5248 Southern Blvd. Boardman, Ohio.
