Thomas "Ty" M. Nally, 100 MASSILLON - Prayers will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Fox Funeral Home in Boardman, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Saint Christine Church in Youngstown, for Thomas "Ty" M. Nally, 100, formerly of Youngstown, who passed away peacefully Friday evening. Ty was born March 12, 1909, in Youngstown, a son of Michael J. and Julia A. Vahey Nally, who were Irish immigrants.He attended St. Patrick's School and South High School, both in Youngstown. He first worked as a soda jerk at the original Isaly's, and then he worked at Republic Steel, retiring as a foreman in 1970. He was a member of the church, the Mill Creek Senior Golf League, and the Rolling Hills Golf League, where the members called themselves "the PTA." Ty was also a member of the Glen Crest Lodge Men's Club, and he had two holes in one after the age of 70, and he loved to take rides and walk in Millcreek Park. His wife, the former Gertrude L. Kennedy, whom he married Nov. 28, 1933, died June 30, 1991. He Leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Katherine Ann (James) Gorman of Canfield; two sons, Thomas M. (Kathleen) Nally of Massillon and Daniel J. (Mary) Nally of Warrenton, Va.; a brother, Joseph V (Marge) Nally of Austintown; two sisters, Rita Casey of Minnesota and Patricia Brown of Boardman; 12 grandchildren, James (Maureen) Gorman, Katherine (Lee) Stoneburner, Thomas (Cora) Nally, Joan Nally, Patrick (Meredith) Gorman, Mary Pat Nally, John Nally, Brian Nally, Shannon Nally, Dr. Reagan Nally, Kevin Nally and Daniel Nally; and seven great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, Ty was preceded in death by brothers John and Edward; sisters Julia, Mary and Kathleen; and a granddaughter, Mary Kathleen Nally. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Fox Funeral Home in Boardman.
