Vincent J. Delaney , 91, of Poland, passed away peacefully Saturday September 28, 2024, with his family at his side at St. Elizabeth in Boardman.
Vincent was born October 16, 1932, in Youngstown the son of the late Philip and Theresa Metzinger Delaney, and was a lifelong area resident.
He graduated from Ursuline High School class of 1950, shortly after enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country from 1954 to 1956, being honorably discharged.
Vincent married the love of his life, Linda Durham May 4, 1963, they celebrated 61 years together.
He was a construction superintendent, retiring from R.J. Dermer.
Vincent enjoyed golfing and bowling, volunteered for the Poland baseball association, and belonged to the Sigma Club, plus was a member of Holy Family Parish.
He had so many interests, driving through Mill Creek Park with his granddaughter and he was a dog lover, designated " Cookie Boy", and was always photographing family.
He loved bridges and checking out construction on them before he retired, enjoyed Saturday breakfasts, loved movies with family, was at every dance performance and softball game.
Vincent was always doing projects around the house, and with his daughters at their houses and yards. They would all plant flowers at his mother's grave as a family.
Vincent leaves to cherish his memory his wife Linda and two daughters Laurie E. Delaney and Theresa M. Delaney, and his granddaughter Megan S. Delaney.
Besides his parents, Vincent was preceded in death by his brother Edwin Delaney.
Family and friends may call Thursday October 3, 2024, from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at Fox Funeral Home, Boardman, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 2729 Center Rd. Poland, celebrated by Rev. Gerald DeLucia.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
The Delaney family has request material tributes be given in Vincent's name to the Mill Creek Metro Parks Foundation, P.O. Box 596 Canfield, OH 44406
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. Boardman.
