Viola "Babe" Roman, 96 YOUNGSTOWN - There will be Funeral Services held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fox Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Larry Klinker for Viola Frances Roman, 96 who passed away Friday morning at Sunrise Assisted Living in Poland. Babe was born January 18, 1919 in Solon, Ohio, a daughter of Gus and Jennie Lauderdale Norman and moved to the Youngstown area as a child. She graduated from South High School with the Class of 1936 and has been a life-long area resident. She worked many years as a telephone operator, was a homemaker and helped her husband run their business, Roman Cycle Shop. She was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she was involved in the church blanket sewing group for decades. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially on their motorcycle. She loved all activities with her family especially those involving her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her husband, John, whom she married on January 17, 1942, died on June 12, 2010 after celebrating 68 years of marriage. She will be greatly missed by her three children, Judith (Mark)Martello of New Castle, Nancy Colla of Poland, Richard (Denise) Roman of Austintown; eight grandchildren, Julie Slinn, Jennifer Martello, Laurie Womeldorph, Marco Martello, Nikki Roman, Adam Roman, Nicholas Colla and Natalee Gilk, eleven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband John and her parents, Viola was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and J. Charles Norman and a sister, Mae Sirak. In lieu of flowers Babe's family requests any monetary donations be made in Viola's memory to the American Cancer Society, 525 N. Broad St. Canfield, OH 44406.
