Virginia C. Garvin, 85 BOARDMAN-- Prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Fox Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Patrick Church for Virginia C. Garvin, 85, who passed away Friday morning. Virginia was born Dec 9, 1923 in Youngstown, a daughter of Carl & Gertrude Bray Bates. She was a 1942 Graduate of South High School. Virginia loved to paint and spending time with her family. She won several awards for her watercolor paintings and was a member of the Mahoning Valley Water Color Society. Her husband Frank D. Garvin, whom she married July 15, 1943, died July 15, 1996. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Judy Garvin, with whom she made her home, and Karen (Dennis) Hawn of Canfield; a brother, Carl H. Bates of Austintown; five grandchildren, Greg Waller, John Waller. Kerry Limbian, Teresa Albright and James Hawn; and six great grandchildren. Besides her husband, Virginia was preceded in death by two sisters, Evajean McCabe and Lois Ann Hider. Friends may call 3 to 5 Sunday at the funeral home.
