Obituary

William "Bill" J. Higham, 91 NEWARK - There will be prayers at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Fox Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by the Rev. William Rock at 10 a.m. at St. Dominic Church for William "Bill" J. Higham, 91, who passed away Saturday morning at the Assumption Nursing Home. Bill was born Aug. 13, 1922, in Youngstown, the son of Benjamin and Mollie Restle Higham. Bill graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, was a Navy veteran, and served on the LST 1020 Ship as a Signal Man. Bill was honorably discharged on Jan. 8, 1946. He then attended the University of Illinois in Peoria, Ill., to be a Gemologist and watch repair man. Bill retired in 1988 from Newark Air Force Base. He will be greatly missed by his sister, Mary Higham and his brother, Richard T. (Eleanor) Higham, all of Youngstown; sister-in-law, Oneita Higham of Pittsburgh; and he also leaves countless nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and many friends in Newark. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia LaMarr; and four brothers, Robert O., Carl, John S., and Benjamin Higham. Bill's family would like to thank all of the caregivers from Humility of Mary Health Partners and Assumption Village Nursing Home for the wonderful care they showed to him. Friends may call Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Fox Funeral Home in Boardman.
