Obituary

William J. Shina passed away Sunday January 18, 2026, at Continuing Health Care of Boardman.

He was born July 29, 1946, in Youngstown, the son of the late William Edward and Sophia Podosky Shina.

He was of Catholic faith and attended St. Patrick's Church.

William served his country during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged.

William moved to California in the early 70's as a young man to pursue an acting and singing career.

He had many different parts in small movies and television programs and was a member of the Screen Actors Guild.

William was very good with his hands and crafts; he was an accomplished furniture maker and worked in construction. .

He leaves to cherish his memories and remember him, his sisters Agnes Ann Scheetz, Debra (Bill) Arnaut and brother Jerry (Annie) Shina.

He also leaves his nephews Earl (Connie) Scheetz, William (Ursula) Scheetz, Christopher (Stacy) Scheetz and Shawn (Sharyn) Scheetz; Colt (Wendy) Yohman and Jared Shina. Plus, several great nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call Wednesday February 11, 2026, from 10 to 10:50 a.m. at the Fox Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m.

He will be buried at Calvary Cemetery with his parents.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. Boardman.
