William Stephen Turchyn, 82 BOARDMAN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, at St. Charles Church in Boardman, celebrated by the Rev. Gerald M. DeLucia, for William Stephen Turchyn, 82, who passed away Friday. William was born Nov 27, 1933, in Quebec, a son of Stephen and Mary Kushlak Turchyn. He was a tool and die maker at General Motors Lordstown Assembly Plant. William was a member of St. Charles Church and a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean War. He was an avid tennis player, having played at the Boardman Swim and Tennis Club. William enjoyed the arts and attending his grandchildren's events. His favorite pastime was a game scrabble with his family . His wife, the former Alice C. Roa, whom he married in 1958, passed away in 2003. He leaves to cherish his memory, a son, William S. Turchyn II of Los Angeles; a daughter, Dr. Maria (Dr. James) Matheson of Vermilion; a brother, Eugene Turchyn; and nine grandchildren, Elizabeth, Oliver, Lucas, Sophie, Emma, James, Alicia, Gus, and William. Besides his wife and parents, William was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Voigt. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday, at the Fox Funeral Home and from 9 to 10 a.m., Monday, at St. Charles Church.
