Alba Cordon Obituary

Alba “The Morning Star” Arcuri Cordon, 85, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, on Thursday November 20, 2025.

Born on February 9, 1940, in the small town of Palmi, near Reggio Calabria, Italy, she was the beloved daughter of Antonio and Serena Arcuri. Alba was one of nine children — Pino, Marina, Rocco, Carlo, Franko, Livia, Sina, and baby Roberto, who died in infancy — all raised together in a humble two-room Mussolini-era war home.

At the age of 16, Alba immigrated to the United States, where she graduated from Campbell Memorial High School and later attended Penn-Ohio College in Youngstown, Ohio.

Alba was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Peter J. Cordon. Together they built a beautiful life and raised three children: Florey, Carlo (Jamie), and Peter Jr. (Kerrie). She cherished her seven grandchildren—CJ, Jac, Kendal, William, Nolan, Ashley, and Sydney—who brought her immeasurable joy. She also adored her loyal dog, Putin, her constant companion.

Alba enjoyed her years working at Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall, especially decorating the store for the holidays. Christmas was her favorite season, and her creativity and warmth helped bring it to life for countless visitors.

Proud of her Calabrian roots, Alba embodied strength, toughness, grit, and independence. She faced every challenge, including her illness, with unwavering determination. She was known to say aside from her family, all she needed in life was “her dog, her alarm, and her gun”—a testament to her fierce spirit and sense of humor.

Alba will be remembered for her resilience, her love for family, and the brightness she brought into every room.

Ciao, ciao, Bambina…
