Br. Edward J. Donaher, SSP
Br. Edward was born in Medina, NY on January 22, 1935, to Edward and Helene (Wythers) Donaher. He graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in Graphic Design. After graduation from RIT, he worked at Kilborn Graphic Design Studio in Rochester, NY. He also served in the military as a radio operator in the reserves.
He entered the Society of St. Paul on October 13, 1963, entered novitiate on September 7, 1964, and made his First Profession of Vows on September 8, 1966. He made his Final Profession on September 4, 1971.
Within the congregation he served as Vocation Director and part of the Formation Team from 1971 to 1980. From 1980 to 1988 he served as Co-Director of Alba House Communications in Canfield, Ohio. From 1988 – 2020 he was Graphic Designer for St Pauls Publishing in Staten Island, NY. He also served several terms as Provincial Councilor.
In 2020 he retired to St Paul Monastery in Canfield, Ohio. In retirement he did a few graphic design jobs but mainly offered prayer for the apostolate and members of the Society of St. Paul.
On October 22nd, he fell in his room and went to the hospital for treatment and eventually to a rehab facility for physical therapy. He contracted COVID and returned to the hospital with an infection. He went to Hospice of the Valley on November 11th and passed away at 3:45 pm on Sunday, November 17th.
Calling hours will be at St. Paul Monastery Chapel, Canfield Ohio on Tuesday, November 19th from 4 pm to 7pm with the praying of the Rosary at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be at the monastery at 11 am on Wednesday, November 20th. The burial will be in the cemetery on the monastery grounds immediately afterward.
The Funeral mass will be live streamed on the St Paul Monastery Canfield Ohio YouTube website.
