Charles Jubak Obituary

Charles D. Jubak, age 85, peacefully entered into eternal life on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Briarfield Place in Boardman. He endured the final difficult months of his life with perseverance, gratitude, and a positive attitude.

Charlie, as he was known by friends and family, was born on July 11, 1940, in Youngstown, to the late John G. and Anne (Zvarich) Jubak. Charlie was only 13 years old when his mother died from cancer. He attended St. Brendan grade school, graduated from Chaney High School in 1958, and then attended college at Youngstown State University. He majored in Public Relations and had only one semester left to graduate. In 1966, Charlie began working as a Structural Ironworker for 40 years and served as Union President of Local 207 for eight years. He was very proud of the buildings, churches, bridges, and infrastructure that he built in the Youngstown area. He met his sweetheart, Nancy (Bradley) Jubak, whom he married on January 12, 1974, and was married for 46 years. She preceded him in death in 2020.

Charlie lived, laughed, and loved his life. He was a hard-working man, a tough guy not afraid to get dirty, was full of energy, and had a witty sense of humor. He had a kind and generous heart, always willing to help and give to others. As a little boy, Charlie explored Mill Creek Park, Idora Park, and the Canfield Fair. Charlie enjoyed working outdoors, gardening, cooking, baking apple pies, reading, playing cards, shooting pool, going to casinos, watching old Westerns and football (San Francisco 49ers favorite home team), target shooting, and golfing. One fun fact is that Charlie hit a “hole in one” while golfing in 2007. He loved dogs and leaves behind his little Yorkie Zoey. Most of all, he cherished, protected, and loved his family. Charlie had a strong faith in God, growing up Catholic, said his prayers daily, and was a parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He was a Mason for 42 years at the Argus Lodge 545, a member of the Vienna Fish & Game Club FOE 3298, and the Saxon Club in Austintown. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Charlie’s well-known sayings to family and friends were “Age is just a number” and “I am not going anywhere.” God called him home to be one of his protective angels in heaven.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his children, Michael Jubak and Brenda Murdock, grandchildren Matthew (Caitlin) Murdock and Paul (Hannah) Murdock, nephew Bob (Mary) Jubak, great-niece Marie, and three great-nephews, Bobby, Zach, and Josh Jubak.
