Cynthia Anderson Obituary

With great sadness, the family of Cynthia Anderson, beloved mom, Nonna, sister, and friend, announce her passing on October 24, 2024.  Cynthia was born August 20, 1946, in Youngstown, OH to Edward and Helen Keich. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1964 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Youngstown State University in 1968 and a Master of Arts in English from YSU in 1997.  She was a National Board-Certified teacher, and she had a lifelong love of learning which she also inspired in others.

She taught English and French at Canfield High School for 30 years, making a positive impact on countless students with her infectious love of Shakespeare and all things British and French.  Her genuine fondness and gift for teaching continued after her retirement, when she served for many years as a docent at The Butler Institute of American Art and organized The Annual Butler American Holiday Preview Party and Show.

Cynthia’s passion for learning meant she had many interests, including art, literature, theater, sewing, knitting and movies, and how she loved games!  She enthusiastically adopted the interests of her dear Norm and all her children and grandchildren, supporting them in every way.  Always active, she enjoyed travel and truly all forms of spending time with family.  She loved having her home full of family and friends on holidays, and who didn't love a good Count Nonna's Santas or Gingerbread House competition? Her much-loved children and fifteen grandchildren brought her so much joy, and she was their biggest cheerleader.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son John (Debbie) Perantoni, daughters Lisa (Gregg) Hunter and Elena (Derek Gavorcik) Perantoni; her dear sister Diane Pallai; stepchildren: Colleen (David) Houk, Norman (Tarn) Anderson, Michael (Ulrike Martin) Anderson, Rachael (Paul) Estepp, and Kathleen (Jason) Bartalon; grandchildren: Bella, Isaac, Nicholas, Deanna, Julia, Lauren, Leif, Annika, Mollie, Wyatt, Meredith, Evelyn, Madeline, Hailey, and Grace; and countless dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Norman Anderson, brother Edward Keich, parents Edward and Helen and her niece Carmen.

Cynthia will be deeply missed, but she will always be remembered for her abundance of love, her enthusiasm for life and her devotion to and concern for others.

Donations in Cynthia’s honor can be made to the Good Hope Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or The Butler Museum of American Art.
