Dr. Sadiq Syed Husain, M.D., 86 passed away peacefully Thursday morning with his loving family by his side. Sadiq was born August 19, 1937, in India and moved to the United States in 1966. He was a graduate of Dow Medical College in Karachi, Royal College of Medicine in Edinburgh Scotland, and University of Pittsburgh where he studied catheterization techniques. Upon moving to Youngstown, Sadiq received a fellowship in cardiology at St. Elizabeth Medical Center and became its first board certified cardiologist. He shared his talents with the medical students at Northeast Ohio Medical University where he was an assistant professor. He founded the Ohio Heart Institute, on Belmont Ave.
Sadiq enjoyed flying, doing home improvements and helping his patients with their treatments and went so far as to give them his cell number. Among his many charitable activities he was the past president of the Mahoning County Heart Association. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife the former Janet L. Stewart, whom he married Sept 26, 1970, sons Zaki (Cassandra) Husain, Ali (Heather) Husain and Jaffer Husain, granddaughters Bailey Husain and Emily Husain, and nephews Tahir Hussain and Ashgar Abbas. Funeral services were held Friday June 28 at Masjid Al-Khair Mosque.
