Edward LeViseur Obituary

Edward LeViseur, Jr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 4, 2024, after a brief illness. Ed was born on October 27, 1941, to the late Edward G. Sr., and Rita F. Hernan LeViseur and grew up on Youngstown’s Southside. Ed met his future wife, Mary Ellen Martin, at Cardinal Mooney High School, where they were members of the first graduating class of 1959. Upon graduation, Ed enlisted in the Marine Corps and proudly served his country. Afterwards, he worked for The Steel Door and Richman Brothers.

Ed and Mary Ellen were married for over 60 years.  Together they raised a family of four daughters, Jean Chaves, Julie (CJ) Hamilton, Jackie LeViseur, and Jennifer (Jim) Leugers. Ed provided a wonderful life for his family on the Westside of Youngstown. Many summers were spent sponsoring and coaching softball teams at Mill Creek Baseball.

Ed loved his family above all else. His grandchildren were the joy of his life—granddaughters Emily and Sarah; grandsons Ian, Nicholas, Brady, and Casey; and great grandson, Ronan. Ed also leaves behind two sisters, Joan (Robert) Whitaker and Judy (William) Conway. Any family get together made Ed happy, and none was complete without a serious game of Texas Hold ‘Em or Tripoly.

Ed was a State Farm Agent for nearly 50 years and enjoyed every minute of it. His office was in Cornersburg, Ohio. He loved the community, and many of the people in Cornersburg became an extended family to him as they named him the unofficial Mayor of Cornersburg; he served his constituents well.

To know Ed was to love his humor. He enjoyed life and had unique expressions to capture every moment.  Wherever he was, he’d question, “Is this great or what?” Meals were regarded as “the best ever” where he’d tell the servers “to charge accordingly” when any extras were requested. In reflection of his life, he often proclaimed, “We did pretty well, didn’t we?” He certainly did.

Ed was a man of strong faith and a Parishioner of St. Christine’s Parish. He volunteered for many years at Mill Creek Children Services and was a favorite of Sister Jerome. Ed’s generosity was unmatched. Toys for Tots was his passion, and he delighted at collecting as many toys as he could for children in need. He was also a member of Marine Corps Detachment 494. The family would like to thank the detachment for their brotherhood, which meant so much to Ed.  Semper Fidelis—Always Faithful.

Ed loved his family dog Frannie, maybe sometimes more than his daughters. He will be happily reunited with his other dogs/ girls, Muffin, with a ball in her mouth, and Chloe, with a grin on her face.

The family would like to give special thanks to the team at The Addison of Cornersburg who gave Ed a happy and productive last two years of his life.
