Eleanor M. Fait Conroy, 96 passed away peacefully Friday morning March 13. She was born November 15, 1929, in Youngstown, a daughter of Joseph and Katherine Zvirloh Fait. After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1947, Eleanor went to work at Marshall Drug Co., and General Fireproofing where she riveted aircraft wings. She retired from Cohen Sparkle Market on South Ave after 22 years in the meat dept. Eleanor was a member of St. Charles Church, and its over 55 Club. She was the first female football official in OHSAA history and was commemorated by the Curbstone Coaches for her achievement. Her husband Joseph Conroy, whom she married September 4, 1954, passed away July 12, 2011. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving children Joseph (Mimi) Conroy, Erin (John) Misalko and James Conroy, grandchildren Emily Conroy, Allison (Ernst) van den Akker and Joseph Conroy III. Along with her parents and husband, Eleanor is preceded by her sister Justina Sova and brother Joseph Fait .
Family and friends may call from 10 to 11:50 a.m. Tuesday March 17 at the Fox Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 12 Noon. She will be lying to rest next to her husband Joseph at Lake Park Cemetery. Her family wishes to thank the staff at Poland Way for their love and compassionate care during her stay.
