Gerald “Jerry” Ferencak, 85, of Struthers passed away peacefully Wednesday November 27, 2024, at Maplecrest Nursing Home with his daughter at his side.
Jerry was born on August 27, 1939, the son of the late Irwin and Gertrude Timko Ferencak.
Jerry graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School class of 1958. He enlisted in the army and was honorably discharged in May,1965. He then worked 34 years at Falcon Foundry in Lowellville, retiring in March 2002. He enjoyed his retirement and was able to spend a lot of time with his only granddaughter.
Jerry married the love of his life Dolores “Dolly” Rehovick at St. Dominic Church on June 1, 1968. Sadly, she passed away on January 28, 2017.
Jerry and his family were parishioners at St. Dominic and St. Nicholas Churches. He was a member of the American Legion 247 in Lowellville. He enjoyed bowling (was on many church leagues), golfing, watching movies and working on crossword puzzles.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter Laura J. (Brett) Schaller of Boardman and his granddaughter Sarah J. Schaller. He also leaves his sister, Georgia (Alex) Kidd of Boardman and a brother, Thomas (Diane) Ferencak of Florida.
The family has requested material tributes in Jerry’s name be given to Akron Children’s Hospital.
Family and friends may call from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. on Thursday December 12, 2024, at St. Dominic Church 77 E. Lucius Ave. Youngstown, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Vincent DeLucia.
Private interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. Boardman.
