In Loving Memory of Joan Amreihn, 93, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she lived a life full of love, laughter, and quiet strength.
Though she never wanted fuss or fanfare, her warmth and generosity left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her. Joan graduated from South High School in 1950, was formerly employed at Youngstown Sheet and Tube as a stenographer, and at Deramo’s Florist. She was an avid bowler well into her late 80s, enjoying the camaraderie of the lanes and the thrill of the game. Friends and family also knew her for her incredible baking skills, especially anything involving chocolate, her lifelong favorite.
She is remembered for her gentle humor, her resilience, and the countless ways she made life sweeter for those around her. She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Edward H. Amreihn (“Bud”), her parents, William and Nellie Measmer, her sister Laurabelle Buckham, and brothers William and Richard Measmer.
She is survived by her children, Laureen (Rick) Barnhart, Cheryl (Ed) Metzel, Brian (Audra) Amreihn and Marla (Steve) Fife, grandchildren Sydney (Jason) Williams, Justin (Alyssa) Metzel, Lauren Fife, Carson Fife, great grandchild Chase Williams, brother Jim Measmer and sister-in-law Rita Russell, who will carry forward her memory and her love in their hearts.
In keeping with her wishes, a private celebration of her life will be held by the family.
Interment was held in Forest Lawn Cemetery; she will be buried next to her husband.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. Boardman.
