Joan E. Yarnell, 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep Saturday evening August 10, 2024.
She was born February 12, 1935, in Struthers, a daughter of Lindsay and Anna Hyde Gordon.
Joan worked at the General Motors Fab plant in Lordstown, retiring in 1995 after many faithful years of service.
She was a member of the U.A.W. local 1714 and enjoyed bingo, horse racing and telling good jokes. Her husband Robert D. Yarnell, whom she married on May 14, 1952, passed away March 13, 2017.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Linda Lesko, grandchildren Sheila (Michael) Goskie, Scott (Christina) Burkhart and Jeff (Kim) Burkhart, great grandchildren Brittany Burkhart, Jessyka Burkhart, Jenna Burkhart, Alexandra (Frank) McDowell, Hunter Hornyak, and step great grandchildren, Michael Martin, Joey Platt, Jimmy Platt, and Kaitlyn Vaught. Joan in preceded in death by her son Michael Yarnell, son in law David Lesko, brother William Gordon and stepsister Naomi Palmer.
Private funeral services were held Thursday afternoon August 15, 2024, at the Fox Funeral Home, followed with her burial next to her husband and son at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Her family wishes to thank the staff at Shepherd of the Valley, in Boardman, for their loving care and compassion.
Yarnell family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley for taking wonderful care of mom.
