Joseph “Joey” Forsythe passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.
Joey was born on May 10, 1966, in Youngstown, the son of John H. and Joanne M. Coletta Forsythe, and was a lifelong resident of the area.
He attended St. Charles School and graduated from Boardman High School in 1984. Joey later attended Youngstown State University.
He worked various jobs in the food service industry until health issues prevented him from continuing.
Joey was a devoted member of St. Charles Church and truly enjoyed attending services.
He was a passionate fan of the Cleveland Guardians and the Miami Dolphins.
Joey is survived by his mother, with whom he lived, and his sisters Christine (Robert) McFerren of Salem and Melissa (Jimmy III) Leslie of Austintown. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews: Jordan (Dan) Shea, Zach McFerren, Tuck McFerren, Jimmy Leslie IV, and Shayleigh Leslie, along with his great-niece, Saoirse Shea.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Forsythe.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fox Funeral Home in Boardman.
Prayers will be held at the funeral home on Friday morning, June 27, 2025, at 10:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church 7345 Westview Dr., Boardman. The Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Brian Cline.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. Boardman.
