Judith C. (Long) Fortunato

Judith C. Fortunato, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Judith was born on March 10, 1941, in Mayport, Pennsylvania, a daughter of William and Dorothy Brocious Long. She moved at an early age to Youngstown, Ohio where she resided until her death. She attended East High School until 1959.

In her younger years, Judith worked at Ravers Restaurant in downtown Youngstown, a job which she always recalled fond memories. While employed there, she met her first husband George Pesa and resided in Lake Milton, Ohio for a few years. Her love of dogs led her to raise silky terriers. She also presented her dogs in many professional shows including the Westminster Kennel Club dog show.

 Judith married John Fortunato in 1970 and spent her life making a wonderful home for her husband and children. She loved her family well and her children knew her to be a strong and caring woman. She loved hosting the family within her home in Boardman and created many happy memories that will be cherished. Judy was known for her wit and kind heart, always lending a helping hand. She was the heart and soul of the family and will be dearly missed.

Judy leaves behind her four children: Richard (Cathie) Pesa of Boardman, Tina (Chris) Hanny of Newport News, Virginia, Jaime Callicutt of Columbus, Ohio, and Andrea (Nathan) Stauffer of Springhill, Florida. She also leaves behind two sisters and two brothers: Patty (Bob) Reda of Monessen, Pennsylvania and Joyce Hammond of Niles, Ohio, Alan Long of Boardman, and Gary (Mary Ann) Long of Lake Milton. Judy found joy in being a grandmother to ten grandchildren, who loved to hear her stories- Kirsten, Jacob, Aaron, Isabella, Christopher, Sophia, Samuel, Scarlett, Paloma, and Elliot.

In addition to her parents, Judy is preceded in death by her loving husbands, George Pesa of 3 years who died on February 19, 1968, and John Fortunato of 37 years who died on August 1, 2007.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 3:50 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home, 4700 Market Street, Boardman, with a funeral service immediately following at 4:00 p.m.
