Marion McDermott, age 99 passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, at The Inn at Poland Way with her family by her side.
She was born on July 14, 1926, in Youngstown, OH, daughter of James and Loretta (Weber) McKeown
She graduated from East High School in 1944 where she was class secretary and prom queen. Following her graduation she was employed as a telephone operator with Ohio Bell. In later years she also worked for Youngstown Firefighter’s Credit Union. In addition, she volunteered with St. Elizabeth Auxiliary for many years.
She married Robert McDermott on October 18, 1947, at St Joseph Church in Youngstown. He preceded her in death on November 27, 2018.
Together they shared 3 children, Kevin (Cindy) McDermott, Coleen (Jerry) McAtee and Maureen (Jeff) Novotny
She was Grandma to six granddaughters; Erin (Michael) Swanbeck, Amy (Jeff) Masenheimer, Megan (Adam) Molyet, Courtney (Eric) DiLaura, Ciara (Happel) Scurry and Kelly (Noah) Rosen and affectionately known as Gigi to her 13 great grandchildren, Addison, Claire, Henry, Reagan, Austin, Nolan, Morgan, Carter, Alana, Caroline, Peter, Leland and Charles.
She was also preceded in death by her siblings James Earl, Eugene, Lucille, Paul and Raymond as well as two infant sisters.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 14 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Fox Funeral Home in Boardman.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 15 at 11:00 am at Christ Our Savior Parish, St Nicholas Church in Struthers, OH.
Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Marion’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Inn at Poland Way for their kindness and exceptional care shown over the years. Special thanks to the memory care nurses, aides and the team from Buckeye Hospice whose loving care provided comfort during her final days.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home 4700 Market St. Boardman, Ohio 44512.
