It is with a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of Michael Joseph Belcik, 93, who left us on Thursday August 1, 2024, surrounded by his family at Masternick Memorial.
Michael was born August 15, 1930, on the feast day of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
He was the son of the late Michael and Mary Yobe Belcik and was a lifelong area resident.
Mike attended Chaney High School and then started working for U.S Steel Co. He proudly enlisted in the United Staes Army in 1953 and was honorably discharged Dec. 1954.
Upon his return home he continued to work in the steel mills as a crane operator until his retirement after 30 years of service.
Mike married the love of his life Margaret A. Deley on July 7, 1956, at SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, they just celebrated 68 years together.
He and his wife Marge had a passion for polka music and attended many dances with friends in the community. Mike loved to golf and fish, with his family and friends.
His faith was an essential part of his life, and he was a devoted member of Saint Dominic Church where he volunteered ushering, decorating the church and working the St. Vincent DePaul Society local soup kitchen. He also enjoyed conversing with everyone he met.
Mike attended mass daily and said the rosary several times throughout the day.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife Marge, and their children Michael A. (Doreen) Belcik of Wooster, Mary Jo (John) Joyce of Mentor, Maureen (Christopher) Tesone of Poland and Mark (Martha) Belcik of Loveland.
His eleven grandchildren Brian (Melanie), Jeffrey (Danielle), Eric, Jessica (Zach), Patrick, John Nora (Mirria), Meredith (fiancé Ben), Matthew (Alanna), Jacob (fiancé Katie) and Claire; and as well as three great grandchildren Jack, Emma, and Millie, all of whom brought him great joy.
