Richard " Rick" J. Swan

Richard J. Swan, 74, of Columbiana passed away October 28th, 2024, at home. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Raymond and Lorene (nee Kennedy) Swan.

He attended St. Joseph School in Dover, Ohio and was a 1968 graduate of Dover High School in Dover, Ohio.

He retired from MS Consultants, Inc. in Youngstown, Ohio after over 30 years as the Corporate Head of Surveying. He was a registered professional surveyor in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

He was a member of the Professional Land Surveyors Club of Ohio. He also was a member of the Thomas Hutchins chapter of professional surveyors where he held many positions. He was a member of the 7th Ward Citizens Coalition of Youngstown, Ohio whenever he lived there and held a position there. He belonged to the Mahoning County Mustang Club and the NRA.

In his younger years he enjoyed playing softball and bowling and playing cards with friends. He recently enjoyed driving his 1931 Ford Model A and his 2000 Mustang.

Rick is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lauretta (nee Ott) Swan, a daughter, Laurie (Jeff) Bartholomew of New Middletown and a son, Richard J. Swan Jr. of the home. He survived by 4 grandsons, a granddaughter in law and 2 great grandchildren. Rick is also survived by 3 brothers, one sister, one brother-in-law and 4 sisters in law.

Honoring Rick’s wishes cremation had been entrusted to Fox Funeral Home, also honoring his wishes there will be no services.
