Robert F. George, of Austintown, Ohio passed away peacefully, Friday March 21st, 2025, at McLeod Hospice House, in Florence, South Carolina.
Bob was born March 2nd, 1944, the son of the late Fredrick S. George and Anne Drummond George and was a lifelong area resident.
He was a graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School, served in the Air Force, and retired as a Captain of the Youngstown Fire Department.
Bob was a faithful and dedicated husband to his wife Patti Herdman for over 52 years, prior to her death May 5, 2021; he enjoyed his family and friends; he especially cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren, who were the highlight of his life. He took great pride in his service and was highly respected for his ability, professionalism and dedication as a fireman and member of the rescue squad.
He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, the game of golf and spent his time after retirement working at Reserve Run Golf course, where he was a fixture.
He was a humble and selfless man who always put others before himself. He lived a full life, was an amazing husband, brother, father and friend; he touched the lives of many, and he will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his son Robert J. (Theresa) George of Florence South Carolina and his four grandchildren, Ryan George, Andrew George, Matthew George and Bryse George: a sister Colleen (Gene) O’Dea and a brother Brian George.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Patricia A. George, his son Patrick B. George, his sister Kathy Gondel and her husband Thomas Gondel.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday March 30, 2025, at the Fox Funeral Home 4700 Market St. Boardman, Ohio 44512.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday March 31, 2025, celebrated by Rev. Stephen Ziegler, at St. Christine Church 3165 South Schenley Ave. Youngstown.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. Boardman.
