Ruth Elaine Srock

Ruth Elaine Srock, 78 passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon June 22, 2024, with her loving family by her side. 

Ruth was born November 10, 1945, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Clair Vern and Betty Florence Loree Buchanan. 

Ruth worked at Twin Kiss restaurant as a car hop, and then for a short while at Packard Electric.

She had a loving devotion to her savior Jesus Christ, which led her to cleaning for 30 years a job she loved, she was known as the cookie lady for 20 years, volunteering at vacation bible school at Bethel Church of the brethren. 

Ruth enjoyed cooking, eating maple creams, listening to talk radio, reading the daily newspaper and listening to Bee Gees songs, plus spending time with her grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Pamela (Steve) Simmons and Deborah (Brian) Wood, son- in- law John Slanina, sisters Carol DiRocco, Diane Buchanan and Beverly Aaron, grandchildren Cassandra Simmons, Nathaniel (Alexandrea) Simmons, Samantha Wood, Jacob Wood, Madeleine Wood, Steven (Kayla) Slanina, Joey Slanina and Drew Slanina, and great grandchildren Lilliana, Charlotte and Finn. 

Ruth was preceded in death by her daughter Laura Slanina.

A celebration of Ruth’s life will be 12 Noon Wednesday July 3, 2024, at Woodworth Church of the brethren, 30 E. Western Reserve Rd, Youngstown, OH., 44514.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. Boardman.
