Suzanne “Susy” L. Brown, 78 of Canfield passed peacefully on Saturday January 10, 2026, after a lengthy battle with Lewy Body Dementia.
She was a daughter, sister, wife, stepmom and grandmother, cousin, friend and teacher and former member of Christ Church Presbyterian.
Susy was born a twin on February 22, 1947, the daughter of the late Harry and Betty Steele Harris. She graduated from Boardman High School and got her Bachelor of Science in education from Youngstown State University.
Suzanne’s goal of teaching art became a reality when she began her career as an art teacher at Austintown Fitch High School, for 30 years.
On June 30th, 1996, Suzanne married Larry Brown, and they enjoyed 30 years of memories, involving traveling, entertaining friends and family, spending winters in Florida, gardening, golfing and participating in many art functions.
Suzanne was an active member of several local art societies winning many awards, as well as teaching classes at the Estero Art League in Florida. She also entered shows at the Butler Art Museum.
Suzanne belonged to the women’s federation, Mahoning Valley Watercolor Society, Trumbull art Gallery, Youngstown Panhellenic Association, Austintown teachers’ association and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society.
She exhibited her artwork at Y.W.C.A. and oversaw hanging the juried artwork at art shows until recently.
Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents and twin brother Richard.
She is survived by her dedicated husband Larry, her stepdaughter Terri, stepson and daughter-in-law Larry and Mary Beth Brown, step granddaughter Maggie and many dear cousins, relatives and friends.
Family and friends may call Thursday January 15, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Fox Funeral Home.
Also, from 10 to 11:00 a.m. on the morning of the funeral.
A funeral service will be held on Friday January 16, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Canfield City Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Memory of Suzanne, to the Butler Art Museum or Hospice of the Valley.
