Todd Johnston Obituary

Todd Everett Johnston, 64, peacefully entered eternal rest on December 20, 2024, at Hospice of the Valley with his loving family by his side after a cardiac episode on December 8th at his home.

Todd was born October 3, 1960, in Youngstown, OH, to the late Doyle C. and Marian L. (Everett) Johnston.

Todd was a lifelong resident of Boardman, OH.  He attended Market Street Elementary and was a 1979 graduate of Boardman High School.  He began his career at Sears Auto Center at Southern Park Mall. He went on to work at Nationwide Industrial and Compco Industries and retired from Commercial (Shearing) Metal Forming in 2019.

Todd enjoyed his love of gardening and sharing his harvest with his neighbors. He taught himself how to can tomatoes and hot peppers, which he also shared. Todd experienced many memorable trips with his sons, whom he loved very much, to Geneva-on-the-Lake and to Colorado to visit family, sightsee, and go four-wheeling.  He was a dedicated sports fan, watching golf, the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Guardians, and Colorado Avalanche hockey.

One of Todd’s most admirable traits was his ability to make friends with people wherever he went. No one was a stranger to him, and he would help anyone in need. His kindness and compassion for others will remain in the hearts of everyone who knows him.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his children, Todd Douglas (21) and Logan Curtis (20) of Boardman; sister Lori and husband Dr. John Aschberger, of Littleton, CO; nieces Jen Ogle and Jessica Gruffydd and their families of Cincinnati; nephews Zachary and Joshua Bowyer and their families, of Cincinnati and Avon Lake, OH; brother-in-laws Mitch Bowyer and James Schrichte.  His cousins, friends, and neighbors will all deeply miss Todd.

In addition to his parents, Todd was preceded in death by his sister Lynne (Bowyer) Schrichte of Cincinnati, OH; sister Geraldine Ryan and brother-in-law Edward Ryan of Stockton CA;

Grandparents John and Jesse Everett of Youngstown, OH and Hiram and Willa Belle Johnston of Glenbar, AZ; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Todd’s family respectfully suggests tributes be made in his memory to recognize his great love of animals. Animal Charity Humane Society, 8469 Southern Blvd, Bldg 3, Youngstown, OH 44512 Or the Healthy Hearts and Paw Project, 909 Martin Luther King Ave SW, Warren, OH 44485.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. Boardman.
