Carol Damore Obituary

Carol Damore passed away on Wednesday April 3, 2024, after courageously battling a lengthy illness.

She was born July 19, 1951, the daughter of Harold and Virginia (McCoy) Costello, Sr.

Carol graduated from Springfield High School in 1971. She married the love of her life, Joseph Damore on October 15, 1977, at Poland United Methodist Church.

Carol was a very hard worker and spent the last 20 years before her retirement as a deli clerk at Westside Sparkle Market where she loved interacting with customers and co-workers. She viewed her most important job was as a mother and a wife. She was involved in all of her children’s activities and loved being part of her husband’s teaching world, acting as his “secretary.”

Besides her dedication to her family, she enjoyed collecting model trains, movies, coins, and anything else she found interesting. She also loved taking pictures and creating photo albums, making ceramic figures, crafting blankets and hats for family and friends as well as extras to donate to those in need. She spent countless hours researching the Costello and McCoy Family Trees as well as planning the annual family reunion.

Carol’s faith was important to her and was a longtime member of the Mahoning United Methodist Church.

Carol leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 46 years, Joe, her son Joseph (Maggie) Damore, of Austintown and her daughter Angela (John) Schulenburg of Cortland. She also leaves her two grandchildren Julia and Timothy Damore, her sisters Jacquelyn Giannios of Poland and Karen Kunder of Concord, North Carolina, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her triplet brothers, Baby Costello and Harold Costello, Jr., sisters Shirley Miles and Ruth Costello, and her brother Patrick Costello.

The Damore Family requests anyone wishing to honor Carol’s memory through a material tribute consider a donation to the Ursuline Sisters Mission, 4250 Shields Rd. Canfield, OH 44406. Carol greatly enjoyed her time in the Silver Sneakers Program and swimming at the Ursuline Motherhouse.
The Damore family would also like to thank the staff at Briarfield at Ashley Circle and the 5th & 6th floor nurses at St. Elizabeth Boardman for the wonderful compassionate care Carol received over the past several months.
