A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Lawrence Frient at 10 A.M. Thursday, August 23 at St. Paul the Apostle Church for Dorrette L. “Dee” Cavanaugh of New Middletown, who passed away peacefully Sunday morning August 19, 2018 with her family by her side.
Born February 15, 1943 in Salem, Dee was the only child of Wilbur and Norma Miller Schnurrenberger. She was a Salem High School graduate, and a hair stylist for over 40 years. She was on the hospitality committee at St. Paul the Apostle Church. Dee enjoyed gardening and was a dedicated co-pilot to her husband Chuck on their many rides across the country. She belonged to the Twin State Racing Club, Ladies of Harley, and the West Penn chapter of H.O.G. Dee was honored to be personal friends with Willie G. and Nancy Davidson, whose parent was one of the Co-founders of Harley-Davidson Motor Company.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Charles “Chuck” Cavanaugh, whom she married November 23, 1963, son Richard Cavanaugh of New Middletown, daughter Lori D.C. Ellis and her husband Rick of Columbiana, four grandchildren Jessica Cavanaugh of Pittsburgh, Phillip Gerner, of NC, Alexis Ellis of PA and Andrew Ellis of East Palestine, and her beloved dog Bentley, as well as many other friends and extended family.
Dee was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call from 9 to 9:45 am Thursday at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main Street, New Middletown, OH.
Interment will take place at Calvary cemetery.
