Eric Hull Obituary

Eric Roy Hull, 76, born in Northside Hospital, Youngstown, Ohio on July 17, 1947, and died at the Hospice House, in Poland, Ohio March 1st, 2024. He is survived by his beloved and cherished wife of 55 years, Hedy Wunderlich Hull, and his children; Eric Hull Jr., Michele Nelson (Bruce Hunter), Dawn Hull (Jonathan Komyati), Teri Wilson (Phil Wilson) and Jeri Hull (Sarah Hull). He is loving Papa to; Melina Tefakis, Gianna and Olivia Komyati, Luke and Ethan Nelson, Emma and Gabe Wilson, Reece, and Brook Hull. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also, a huge thank you to Aunt Debbie Flynn, who was by his side daily and a huge support to him and Hedy. He was proceeded in death by his parents Helen Hull, Roy Hull (Cecilia), brother, Philp Hull and son-in-law, Dane Nelson.

Eric grew up in Cornersburgh, Ohio with the love of the outdoors. He was involved in Boy Scouts and earned the rank of Life. Eric hiked at Philmont Scout Ranch which he talked about often. He enjoyed target shooting and hunting on his Father’s farm and was an unbelievable shot. Eric graduated of Fitch High School in 1965.

After high school he was drafted and served in the US Army 61st Infantry in Colorado Springs, CO. After serving 2 years, Eric returned to Ohio to marry Hedy. Then followed in his father and grandfather’s footsteps going into the grocery business. Hull’s Super Duper, in New Garden, Ohio, was his treasure. Eric was known as a one-of-a-kind boss. To know him was to love him. Eric loved and cherished his work family; Jeffery Sanor, Missy Snyder, Cheryl Hrovatic and all the dedicated employees who have worked for Eric over the 54 years in business. Hull’s Super Duper is run by his son, E.J. and is still considered a pillar in the New Garden Community.  We are forever grateful for their love and support.

Eric was heavily involved in the Youngstown Grocers Association, now Ohio Grocers Association. He held the title of President for two terms. He was a proud member of the Scottish Rite Mason of Canton, Ohio and served on the board of the Mahoning Valley Ulster Project. He enjoyed food shows and connecting with purveys and clients. Eric loved and understood anything involving the grocery business. He was a natural when it came to sparking up a conversation.

In later years, Eric enjoyed simple life in Canfield, feeding the birds, watching a good cowboy, and enjoying time with family. Eric was cherished by his standard poodle Lily. The Hull family would like to recognize the outstanding care given by Elizabeth Zinni, FNP-C, in Canfield and the wonderful Hospice caregivers and the Hospice House in Boardman.

We love you and will miss your spirit.
