A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Peter M. Polando at 10 am Tuesday at St. Columba Cathedral for Leo F. Krause, 76 of Akron, formerly of Youngstown, who passed peacefully May 12.
Leo was born February 20, 1942 in Youngstown, a son of Charles and Ruth Schilling Krause. He was a 1961 graduate of the Rayan School and had attended Youngstown State University. Leo worked at Summit Plastics in Tallmadge and retired from there after 31 years. He was an active member of St. Matthews Church in Akron, where he taught C.C.D., sang in the choir, and was a lector and eucharistic minister. One of Leo’s joys in life was raising and racing pigeons. He faithfully served his country while in the Army from 1968 to 1969 in the Vietnam War.
Besides his wife the former Lucille A. Jannone, his high school sweetheart, whom he married August 1, 1964, he leaves to cherish his memory a daughter Dottie (Danny) Minnick of Akron, sisters Mary Darleen Dominic of Luling, La., Sheila (Robert) Golubich of Youngstown and Sister Thea Krause, CSFN of Altoona, Penna., grandsons Joshua (Elena) Minnick and Cory Minnick (girlfriend Nikki Falcone) and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Leo is preceded in death by brothers Martin, Charles and Gerald Krause.
