Mary Jo Snyder

Mary Jo Snyder, 58, died Thursday, April 4, 2024, wrapped in the love and prayers of her family and in the exemplary care of Summa Health Hospice – Akron Campus.

Mary Jo was born September 18, 1965, created to be a beacon of light and love to all those in her life. She reached out to each and every person she met with a smile, complete acceptance, instant friendship, and a readiness for unconditional love. The world was blessed with a bright thread of joy and peace in the tapestry of life, and Mary Jo will forever shine in its fabric. Mary Jo loved spending time with family, especially trouncing her mother or brother in a lively game of cards, dancing with her sisters or performing solo with enviable rhythm, eating pizza, or simply sitting contentedly amidst the chaos of family gatherings. She loved joining friends and family in adventure and entertainment and was quick to join in any related fun. She also loved participating in the BraVo! program of Akron’s United Disability Services and had a happy smile on her face each morning as she left the house to begin her workday.

Mary Jo was a prayer warrior who loved God with all her heart. Family members were quick to request her prayerful intercession for various matters. For years, she enjoyed daily mass and membership in the Third Order of St. Dominic.

Mary Jo is survived by six siblings, Carol Seachrist (Daniel), Cheryl Baker (James), Mary Catherine Creps (Michael), Patti Eaglehouse, home base and surrogate mother (Edward), William Snyder (Marcia) and Mary Michelle Russell (Victor) and their families, including 10 nieces and nephews and 17 great-nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all.

Mary Jo was predeceased and awaited in heaven by her parents, June and William Snyder.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Dominic Church in Youngstown, Ohio on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 10:00 am. A viewing at the church will precede the service and begin at 9:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the  BraVo! Program at United Disability Services in memory of Mary Jo Snyder.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. Boardman.
